Support for carers

Connect is a partnership project between Carlisle Eden Mind, Citizens Advice and Cumbria Law Centre. Working with anyone who is experiencing crisis, poverty or hardship and is worried about their mental health and wellbeing.
A hardship or poverty crisis can include immediate problems such as issues with money, food, gas/electric, clothes, furniture etc. It can also include wider needs such as housing, welfare, benefits and debt.

Alzheimers Society are there for anyone affected by dementia, and do everything they can to keep people with dementia connected to their lives and the people who matter most. Services include dementia support, national helpline, dementia café, information programme and singing for the brain.

Carers UK offer advice, information, and support to carers. 

Carlisle Carers provide a range of services to support and enhance the lives of unpaid carers of all ages throughout the city and the north east of Cumbria.

Young Minds Parent Helpline offer free, confidential online and telephone support, including information and advice, to any adult worried about the emotional problems, behaviour or mental health of a child or young person up to the age of 25. Monday to Friday 9.30am – 4pm, free for mobiles and landlines

South Lakeland Carers is an independent, local charity and network partner of Carers Trust. We provide a range of services to support and enhance the lives of unpaid carers of all ages throughout South Lakeland.

SOBS exist to meet the needs and overcome the isolation experienced by people over 18 who have been bereaved by suicide. Their National helpline is listed below, or you can call their local team: Paul (07896 703757); John (07572 975721)

West Cumbria Carers provides support to carers who look after a family member, relative, friend or neighbor who could not manage without their help. The organisation provides services to carers in the districts of Allerdale and Copeland in the county of Cumbria.
